Wicked Oak Press & Wicked Dark Stories
The Dark Side of the Signal
Higher Consciousness Radio exists to push the edges of what you think you know. But some stories don’t belong in the daylight.
That’s where Wicked Oak Press comes in.
Wicked Oak Press is the independent publishing house behind Higher Consciousness Radio — home to fiction, dark storytelling, original music, and the kind of narratives that live just beyond the reach of ordinary conversation. Think of it as HCR’s shadow: the same curiosity, the same refusal to look away, but pointed somewhere older and stranger.

If you’ve been listening to Higher Consciousness Radio, you already know about the Inner Circle — our Patreon community where the real conversation happens.
The Inner Circle is where HCR listeners go deeper. Study groups, extended discussions, exclusive content, and direct access to the material referenced throughout the show. It’s the community we’ve built around the ideas that Higher Consciousness Radio explores every episode.

Wicked Dark Stories — The Sister Podcast & YouTube Channel
Wicked Dark Stories is the sister podcast and YouTube channel to Higher Consciousness Radio, hosted by JD Sangster.
Where HCR explores real ideas about consciousness, the paranormal, and what lies beyond — Wicked Dark Stories goes fully into the dark. Original fiction. Supernatural horror. Stories told the old way: around the fire, in the dark, with something watching.
Think Mr. Ballen meets Appalachian Gothic. Think The Why Files with the lights off.
Each episode is a self-contained descent — original stories rooted in the same mysteries that drive Higher Consciousness Radio, but told through character, atmosphere, and dread. The road gets dark. The stories get darker.
“Welcome to the depths of my depravity.”

Now Playing: Roland Rides
The flagship series of Wicked Dark Stories is Roland Rides — a supernatural road story set on old Route 66.
Cal Rusk is a long-haul trucker who picks up the wrong hitchhiker on a rainy mountain pass at midnight. What follows is a descent into folk horror, dark mythology, and the kind of evil that smiles too wide and smells of cold dirt and something butchered too long ago.
Roland Rides blends original southern gothic fiction with deep paranormal mythology — the same world HCR listeners already inhabit, just seen from the driver’s seat at two in the morning.
Episode 1 — Roland Rides Again is available now on the podcast and YouTube.
The story doesn’t end there. The final chapters of Roland Rides are available exclusively to Inner Circle members — along with all WOP fiction, early episode access, and the full HCR study community.

The Music
The Wicked Dark Stories universe has its own soundtrack. The Copperhead Jesus album — eleven tracks of gothic southern darkness — was written and produced alongside the Roland Rides story. Track seven, Roland Rides Again, opens every episode.
